Idea of the Month: Picture Prayers
back
Purpose
Illustrate prayer petitions during worship with digital pictures. For example, a petition for "the community" could include images of actual people and places in your community.

Summary
Help connect Sunday to Monday by bringing the outside in. Although we already pray for "the world" each week, this can get a bit abstract. Bringing in pictures from life out there (like heads of state involved in peace talks, mayoral candidates, local businesses, etc.) can help make God's work in the world more concrete.

Steps
1. Vision Team identifies a team member to sponsor the activity. The sponsor then recruits a coordinator from outside the team and supports her in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the activity.

2. Identify pictures to project during the prayers. (You might search the Internet, scan items in from newspapers or magazines, or take your own about town.)

3. Test out the projection equipment prior to worship.

Resources
- Computer with presentation software (something like Microsoft's PowerPoint), digital projector, and overhead screen.
- Pictures to project during the prayers.

Tips
Take a long a digital camera as you complete the Workplace Visits activity.  Include petitions for congregants living out their Monday-Saturday callings (with accompanying pictures) in your weekly prayers.
