Teaching Congregations

Teaching Congregations is a component in M.Div. training to become an ordained pastoral leader in the church. Whether you are planning to be ordained in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America or another denomination. Four (4) semesters are required for an M.Div. degree.

You will be asked to involve yourself in the life of a specific congregation. How you are involved will depend upon the intersection between your gifts and talents and the congregation's needs. You'll participate in congregational life with the mentoring guidance of the congregation's pastor. Your congregation will also provide the context for connecting coursework.
