This involves reading the evidence carefully according to the Critical Signs that appear in the text and in the apparatus at the bottom of the page in the Nestle-Aland text (for help see Introduction, especially pp. 52-57, the blue handout Explanation of the Nestle Signs, the Sample in the next slide, and the Examples on the handout).
- Note the type of variant (alternative readings, insertion, deletion, etc.; see Nestle signs)
- In left column list the alternative readings
- In next column list the Manuscript support for each variant
- Fill in "geographical/ text type" information for each Manuscript from "Text-Types and Witnesses" chart as much as possible
