Western Mission Cluster Consultation IV
January 18-20, 2002
Spirit in the Desert Retreat Center, Carefree, Arizona

Theme: "Equipping the Baptized: Connecting Faith with Daily Life"

What will take place at this year's consultation?

·        Keynote Speaker: Patricia O'Connell Killen, Pacific Lutheran University

·        Mini-Summit on Resources for Distance Learning and Distributive Learning Systems

·        Working Groups focusing on Strategies for Collaborative Networking for Life-Long Learning

o       What stake does my institution have? What do we have to offer?

o       Developing Specific Goals and Plans of Action

Who should come? Past participants and new are being invited-- representatives from ELCA congregations, synods, colleges, seminaries, continuing education centers, outdoor ministries, campus ministry, and social service agencies in Regions 1, 2, and 3, as well as representatives from ELCA churchwide and the Covenant and Eastern clusters.

We encourage you to plan to join us for this time of strategic planning together around a common commitment to the church's mission.

Schedule: Consultation IV will begin with lunch on Friday, January 18, and conclude with lunch on Sunday, January 20. A more detailed schedule will be sent to participants later.

Cost? Though grant monies will cover the cost of Keynote speaker and use of meeting spaces, each institution is asked to pick up the cost of travel, room, and board for attendees. Because of limited space, accommodations at the retreat center are shared only on a first come basis.

Cost for double accommodations at the retreat center, including two nights lodging and seven meals is $190.00.

For those preferring single accommodations, for commuters, or for those preferring to lodge off campus, the Commuter fee for the Consultation, which includes all meals, is $90.00.

Information about lodging possibilities at local motels will be sent at a later date.
