Tarsus Stoning of Stephen

Paul was born in Tarsus, but spent at least part of his youth in Jerusalem. There he studied Jewish Law under Rabbi Gamaliel.

Context: Jerusalem became the capital of ancient Israel during the reign of David, about 1000 B.C. In Roman times it remained the central city for Jewish life. It was the site of the temple, which was the one place that sacrifices could be offered according to Jewish law. To see the sights in Jerusalem click here.
