Amphipolis & Apollonia

Acts
17:1

Leaving prison at Philippi, Paul traveled west through the towns of Amphipolis and Apollonia. His next major stop would be Thessalonica, a major port city along the coast.

Context: The towns of Amphipolis and Apollonia were located on the Egnatian Way west of Philippi. Amphipolis was located on the coast. These cities were convenient stopping places for travelers. The picture above shows the region around Apollonia, which features a large inland lake.
